PARRIS GOEBEL (Violet / Associate Choreographer) is known as one of the most acclaimed hip-hop dance choreographers in the world and is the director of her own studio, The Palace Dance Studio in Auckland. In 2011 she was the choreographer for all four crews competing at the World Hip Hop Championships. Goebel was awarded the Street Dance New Zealand Choreographer of the Year and Dancer of the Year awards in 2009 and also won the 2012 World of Dance Female Choreographer of the Year Award.
Goebel is the creator of “Polyswagg” and choreographer for The Royal Family and the all-female dance crew ReQuest, of which she is a member. In 2009 ReQuest was crowned the World Varsity Hip Hop Champions in Las Vegas and also the Battleground Supremacy Varsity Champions in Australia. In 2010 ReQuest returned and dominated the competition to become the No. 1 adult crew in the world as well as the first to win back-to-back gold medals in both divisions. ReQuest was the first crew from outside North America to make it onto Season 6 of the MTV series “America’s Best Dance Crew.” In 2012 ReQuest went to San Diego and was crowned Body Rock Champions.
Goebel was featured on the ABC hit “Dancing with the Stars” in 2012 and “Dancing with the Stars Australia”. A cast member of “Monsters of Hip Hop” in 2008, she is now a member of the faculty that teaches all over the U.S. Individually and with that group, she has taught throughout the U.S., Asia, Europe, Australia and her native New Zealand.
Goebel worked on Jennifer Lopez’s 2012 world tour, performed with her in the “American Idol” Season 11 finale and appeared with ReQuest in Lopez’s latest music video. She has also worked with Jolin Tsai, the No. 1 female pop star in Taiwan and Taeyang from South Korea who is a star in the K-pop world. Goebel choreographed Tsai’s latest video and her 2012 end-of-the-year concert.
